Your guide on washing & caring for your lingerie

Welcome to our guide on how to properly care for and wash your lingerie, ensuring it remains beautiful and lasts longer. We pride ourselves on taking the time to hand select high quality fabrics that are made for everyday use but lingerie still needs special attention if you want it to maintain its quality and shape. Follow these tips to keep your garments in top shape.

Hand Washing: The Preferred Method

Step 1: Preparation

Fill a basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of gentle detergent. Avoid using standard laundry detergent, as it can be too harsh for delicate fabrics.

Step 2: Washing

Submerge your lingerie in the water and gently agitate with your hands. Let it soak for up to 15 minutes. Handle with care, especially items with lace or embroidery, to avoid snags or tears.

Step 3: Rinsing

Drain the soapy water and refill the basin with clean, lukewarm water. Rinse your lingerie until all soap residue is removed. Never wring out lingerie, as it can damage the fabric and alter its shape.

Step 4: Drying

Lay each piece flat on a towel, roll up the towel gently to absorb excess water, then unroll. Reshape the lingerie if necessary and lay it flat on a dry towel or a drying rack away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Machine Washing: When You Must

If hand washing is not an option or you simply don’t have time for it, follow these guidelines to machine wash your lingerie safely:

  • Use a mesh lingerie bag to protect the items.
  • Select a gentle cycle with cold water.
  • Use a mild, lingerie-friendly detergent.
  • Avoid using fabric softeners, as they can break down elastic fibers.
  • Never put lingerie in the dryer. Always air dry.

Storage Tips

Bras should be clasped and stacked in a drawer to maintain their shape. Panties and other delicate items can be neatly folded or laid flat but let’s be honest tossed loose in a drawer is ok to. They’ll survive.
